Artful Teaching:  Think Learn and Teach in Color brings six colors to our teaching palettes with SIX THINKING HATS®.   While providing a simple and practical strategy, SIX HATS® provides an artistic approach to teaching thinking in all academic areas and everyday life.  It is a powerful, research-based thinking tool that improves listening, speaking, reading and writing.  The colors and hats provide an engaging visual image that is easy to learn and remember. When we SEE our THINKING, we become more focused and productive. The game and role-playing nature of the hats compliment how the brain works  The HATS are fun and effective to wear everyday, everywhere!   So, contact Frannymcaleer@learnerslink.com for the research and to bring the SIX THINKING HATS® to your school or organization!

Dr. Robert Benson, Arts Curriculum Leader and Principal at Foothills Fine Arts Academy in Arizona applauded the February, 2016 workshop as he interacted with his teachers throughout the day.  His reflection …”I have never seen such immediate use of a strategy!”

Teri Haugen, Teacher at Foothills Fine Arts Academy in Arizona reflected…”Your presentation today was inspiring, engaging, and fabulous; you were perfection from beginning to end!  Six Hats is going to be a perfect fit for our school, and I have already heard from several colleagues that they are ready to begin implementation. I cannot wait to see what we, as a staff, do with this and for your next in-service to focus on the green hats.  I can’t wait for what will happen in the future!”

This allowed not only the teacher but the students to be in charge of the questioning.  I believe this will lead to more student-led instruction/learning and more engagement.  It also provides opportunities for students to take control of their own learning.  This was very useful and helpful!  Teacher, K-8, Foothills Fine Arts Academy, Arizona

I believe that this strategy, Six Thinking Hats, will help our school increase the level of cognition!  I am already thinking of ways to move lower level, comprehension-based assignments to problem or project-based learning.  Teacher, K-8,  Foothills Fine Arts Academy, Arizona

I loved it, and I believe this type of teacher instruction is highly valuable to my instruction and to our school.  Continue to offer us DOK 3 in-services to help both my students and myself continue to grow and develop in this area!  Teacher, K-8,  Foothills Fine Arts Academy, Arizona
